Dimensional Inspection & Metrology Specialist

Valar Atomics

Valar Atomics

Orangeville, ON L9W, Canada
USD 90k-135k / year
Posted on Mar 6, 2026

Our problem:

More parts than inspection bandwidth.

We are manufacturing and receiving an increasing volume of tighttolerance hardware. Incoming part flow will rise significantly over the next few months.

Inspection is not paperwork here.
Inspection is productioncritical.
Dimensional decisions determine whether hardware moves forward or stops.
We need a dedicated metrology specialist with judgment, discipline, and ownership.

Your opportunity:

If you want responsibility that matters, here is your arena.
If you take pride in precision and discernment — not bureaucracy — here is your arena.
If you want your work to contribute directly to American energy dominance and the longterm prosperity and security of Americans, here is your arena.

Valar Atomics exists to ensure American energy — not our adversaries’ — powers the future.
The parts we accept or reject directly support that mission.

DO apply if you:

1. Have handson experience in dimensional inspection, metrology, scanning, and/or CMM work
2. Understand GD&T as a functional engineering language, not just symbols on a print
3. Are comfortable making accept/reject calls and clearly explaining your reasoning
4. Take pride in being the person who catches problems before they become mission failures
5. Are able to execute effectively with only the end goal provided (good part / bad part / why)
6. Get excited learning new systems and tools rather than discouraged by what you don’t know yet
7. Can work fully onsite 5–7 days a week in Hawthorne, CA as needed
8. Are willing to support inspection surges with early mornings, late nights, or weekends when required
9. Are disciplined about documentation, traceability, and repeatable inspection processes
10. Want to grow into greater responsibility over time as a trusted member of the team

DON’T apply if you:

1. Require a standard Monday–Friday 9–5 working schedule
2. Are unwilling to work weekends or nights during critical build pushes
3. Need constant supervision or stepbystep direction to complete inspection work
4. View inspection as boxchecking rather than missioncritical decisionmaking
5. Are not authorized to work in the United States (we do not sponsor)
6. Are not eligible to access controlled technical information under applicable U.S. export control regulations; eligibility will be verified

About the role

You’ll be a key member of a small, highoutput manufacturing team building real hardware at high urgency.

This is a fully onsite role focused on dimensional inspection across:
• Inhouse manufactured parts
• Externally sourced machine shop components

This is not a generalist role.
This is not an internship.
We need someone who can own wellscoped inspection execution from day one.

A strong performer will naturally grow into expanded responsibility over inspection strategy, workflow, and supporting additional team members as needed.

What you’ll do

• Perform dimensional inspection and GD&T verification on machined and fabricated parts
• Operate advanced metrology systems including:
• Keyence VL870 laser scanner
• Keyence WM6000 largeformat handheld scanner
Creaform HandySCAN Silver Elite
Surphaser LargeFormat Laser Scanners
• Mitutoyo Apex 7601 CMM
• Interpret drawings, datums, tolerance schemes, and functional requirements accurately
• Execute inspection plans appropriate to part function, tolerance, and production urgency
• Generate clear, actionable inspection reports for engineering and manufacturing
• Communicate immediately when parts are nonconforming, borderline, or unrealistic
• Identify supplier trends, recurring failure modes, and process drift
• Maintain inspection traceability, part history, and acceptance documentation

What you bring

Hands-on experience with:
• Dimensional inspection in a manufacturing environment
• GD&T interpretation (ASME Y14.5)
• Laser scanning and/or handheld scanning workflows
• CMM inspection execution and reporting
• Practical decisionmaking under production constraints

Strong technical judgment:
• You know what matters functionally vs what is cosmetic noise
• You raise issues immediately when something is wrong
• You can balance detail with throughput when volume spikes

Excellent documentation skills:
• Inspection reports engineers can trust
• Repeatable, disciplined measurement practices
• Organized records and traceability

Who you are

• Detail-oriented, but not fragile or bureaucratic
• Self-starter who knows when to ask for help
• Calm, analytical, and honest when something is a problem
• Strong work ethic — you finish what needs to be finished
• Motivated by real hardware and real accountability
• Interested in nuclear power, manufacturing, and the American energy future
• Certifications and degrees are not substitutes for real metrology competence

Preferred

• Experience with Keyence and/or Creaform software ecosystems
• Ability to automate reporting or improve inspection workflows
• Supplier quality experience with outside machine shops
• Experience inspecting large, complex, or tighttolerance assemblies
• Interest in developing deeper metrology expertise and supporting team capability

Working with us

• Small team, real ownership, direct impact on safetycritical hardware
• Opportunity to grow into a highly trusted, highresponsibility inspection role
• Fast pace, serious mission, no wasted work
• Catered lunches
• Competitive pay
