Position Overview

The Instrument Technician supports nuclear generation operations by installing, calibrating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plant instrumentation and control systems that are critical to safe, reliable power production. This role ensures the accurate measurement and control of key process variables, including level, pressure, temperature, flow, control valves, and radiation monitoring systems.

Working closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams, the Instrument Technician plays a vital role in maintaining plant readiness while meeting all nuclear safety, quality, and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot analog and digital instrumentation and control systems

  • Perform loop checks, functional testing, and valve stroke testing

  • Diagnose equipment issues using plant drawings, P&IDs, procedures, one-line diagrams, and technical manuals

  • Support radiation detection and monitoring systems, ensuring proper operation and compliance

  • Accurately document maintenance, calibration, and testing activities in accordance with station procedures and regulatory requirements

  • Adhere strictly to nuclear safety, radiological controls, quality assurance programs, and documentation standards

  • Coordinate with operations, engineering, and maintenance personnel to support normal operations, outages, and on-call activities

Required Qualifications

  • Strong technical expertise in industrial instrumentation and control systems

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and a safety-focused mindset

  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a highly regulated environment

  • Willingness and ability to support outage work and on-call schedules

  • Capability to meet nuclear training, qualification, and security requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in industrial instrumentation or a related technical discipline

  • Experience with radiation detection and monitoring equipment

  • Prior experience in highly regulated industries such as nuclear, oil and gas, petrochemical, or power generation

  • Applicable technical certifications or licenses

Additional Information

Experience in oil and gas or other heavy industrial environments is considered acceptable and transferable, provided the candidate can successfully complete nuclear-specific training, qualification, and security requirements.

$50 - $65 USD
