Research Associate - Hydrology

Rainmaker

Rainmaker

Norman, OK, USA
Posted on Nov 13, 2025
Rainmaker is pioneering a modern cloud seeding system to solve water scarcity and inclement
weather problems. We develop and incorporate advanced weather forecasting, numerical
weather modeling, and sustainable cloud seeding technologies into an effective precipitation
enhancement solution.
The Research Associate is responsible for climate analyses to support the strategic goals of
Rainmaker. This role requires a deep understanding of climate data bases, meteorological
processes, operational forecasting techniques, and data analysis methods. The Research
Associate will work closely with field operations and business development teams.
No Recruiting Agencies
What You'll Do
Climate analysis:
Conduct climate analyses for a variety of regions and specific locations.
Produce climate graphics for multiple audiences. Assist with environmental monitoring and
assist with daily operational weather forecasting for glaciogenic cloud seeding operations during
winter months, and provide real-time convective cloud seeding forecasts during summer
seasons. Assist with the development of forecasting workflows utilizing numerical weather
prediction models, observational data, and real-time atmospheric monitoring systems.
Cloud Seeding Operations Support:
Evaluate climate trends. Analyze atmospheric conditions
to identify prime cloud seeding opportunities and assess the potential for precipitation
enhancement. Coordinate with field operations teams.
Reporting and Analysis:
Produce detailed climate analysis and assist with verification of
seeding effectiveness using statistical methods and observational data. Assist with the
assessment protocols to continuously improve operational capabilities.
Research and Development:
Contribute to the development of methodologies and seeding
strategies. Collaborate on projects with multiple teams.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in climatology, hydrology, meteorology, atmospheric science, or closely related field
Experience in climate analysis and operational weather forecasting.
Strong understanding of cloud physics, precipitation processes, and atmospheric dynamics
Experience with Python, or other programming languages.
Knowledge of statistical analysis methods and forecast verification techniques
Ability to work in fast-paced operational environments with shifting priorities and time-critical decisions
Strong communication skills for coordinating with field operations teams and presenting technical findings
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in climatology, hydrology, meteorology, atmospheric science, or related field
Specific experience with GIS, cloud seeding operations and weather modification programs
Knowledge of glaciogenic and convective cloud seeding techniques and methodologies
Experience with radar meteorology and remote sensing applications
Familiarity with climate database management systems
Background in field operations and real-time meteorological support
