SUMMARY: Responsible for the daily operation of the feed mill, ingredient receiving, feed production, fertilizer plant, fertilizer production, and inventory. Coordinates feed production with scheduler. Responsible for quality assurance. Lead safety, housekeeping and continuous improvement efforts. Supervises Feed Mill employees directly and is responsible for their performance evaluations. Maintains equipment and facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provide excellent customer service.
Managing the overall workflow of the location milling operation.
Overseeing the receiving and distribution of product and incoming and outgoing rail cars.
Maintaining location inventory and preparing loads to be sent to customers or loaded on customers at plant.
Overseeing and maintaining inventory levels and devising ways to optimize inventory control procedures to ensure product is adequate for customer demand.
Maintaining equipment, putting in work requests, supervising 3rd party workers while they are at the facility
Maintaining a safe work environment for staff and customers.
Overseeing grounds, security, and sanitation of milling facilities.
Must be available to work extended hours.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Mill Operations Manager is responsible for training new hires, supervising feed/fertilizer plant staff. This person must be able to be a team leader, provide performance evaluation and feedback to team members, and help resolve employee issues and disputes.
QUALIFICATIONS Success in this position requires high internal drive, a natural ability for relationship building, and leadership in a team environment. They should be able to build trust, value others, focus on the customer, collaborate with others, solve problems creatively and demonstrate high integrity. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
5 years of management or supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
