Get to Know the Team

You will be part of the Finance Global Process Owner (GPO) team within the Finance Centre of Excellence (Finance COE) — Grab's Finance transformation engine. The COE works across every Finance sub-department to build a more efficient, standardized, and future-ready Finance operation. The GPO team owns process standards for RTR, PTP, and OTC. We work with SSC teams in Jakarta and Selangor, Country Finance Leads across six markets, GTS, and the CFO office.

Get to Know the Role

We're looking for an Assistant Manager, Finance Global Process Owner to join our finance team. You will report to the Senior Manager, RTR Global Process Owner and be base at our Malaysia office in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

In this role, you will own and drive key Record-to-Report (RTR) process improvement initiatives across the region, including reconciliation optimization, payment automation, manual journal reduction, and governance uplift.

You will work with Global Transaction Services (GTS), Country Finance, and Shared Service Center (SSC) teams to design, implement, and optimize finance processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detailed professional to lead meaningful operational improvements and lead process transformation projects on a global scale.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

Process Streamlining & Automation:

  • Manage main RTR process improvement projects, including reconciliation optimization, payment automation, manual journal reduction, and governance uplift across the region
  • Write Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) for automation projects and manage delivery from design through to go-live with GTS, Country Finance, and SSC teams
  • Define Journal Approval Matrix, reconciliation thresholds, and close governance standards to strengthen control environments
  • Build process health dashboards to lead accountability and track improvement metrics
  • Contribute RTR process expertise to Finance COE transformation projects and cross functional workstreams
  • Represent the Global Process Owner (GPO) function in transformation design sessions and governance forums; ensure process readiness is embedded into structural changes
  • Support SOX control documentation updates to reflect new streamlined processes and maintain compliance standards
  • Build a rolling RTR process improvement pipeline, reviewed with Finance leadership on a half-yearly basis
  • Extend process improvement projects to the CFO office and broader finance organization
  • Evaluate latest finance technology solutions—including AI-assisted reconciliation and experienced posting—and develop adoption business cases where applicable
  • Support Finance COE on cross functional priorities as transformation needs evolve
  • Contribute to finance integration work for acquisitions or new market entries, including process assessment, harmonization planning, and handover design
  • Represent Finance GPO in working groups, steering forums, and business partners engagement sessions to ensure process excellence across all projects
  • Develop comprehensive process documentation, including standard operating procedures and best practices aligned with global standards
  • Collaborate with regional finance teams to ensure consistent process adoption and compliance with organizational standards
  • Monitor and report on measurements related to process efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness
  • Conduct regular process audits to ensure adherence to established standards and regulatory requirements
  • Provide training and guidance to finance teams on new processes and system changes
  • Communicate process updates and improvements to business partners across the organization
  • Partner with finance leadership to align process improvements with organizational goals and strategy projects

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

Qualifications:

  • Core Finance Experience: 6–9 years of progressive finance experience with substantial time in Record-to-Report (RTR), controllership, or financial close management; demonstrated expertise in General Ledger (GL), reconciliation, journal governance, and financial close procedures
  • Process Automation & Systems: Proven experience writing Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) and managing process automation delivery end-to-end; hands-on proficiency with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or equivalent) and reconciliation tools; ability to evaluate emerging technologies such as AI-driven reconciliation and RPA solutions
  • Compliance, Controls & Governance: Good understanding of SOX control environments; experience defining governance frameworks, approval matrices, and control thresholds; demonstrated capability to maintain compliance standards across process improvements
  • Transformation & Leadership: Experience working in a Shared Service Center (SSC), Finance Global Process Owner (GPO) function, or finance transformation environment; multi-country finance experience in Southeast Asia is strongly preferred; self-directed professional able to influence across matrix organizational structures with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem Solving & Strategic Planning: Able to turn complex processes into clear problems and developing workable solutions; ability to assess finance integration requirements for acquisitions or new market entries; strategic planning aligned with organizational goals
  • Process Improvement Methodologies: Formal Lean Six Sigma certification (Yellow Belt, Green Belt, or Black Belt) or demonstrated experience applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies to finance operations; analytical capabilities with process data and dashboards would be advantageous
  • Education & Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; professional certifications such as CA, CPA, or ACCA are advantageous; fluency in English required; Bahasa Malaysia or other Southeast Asian languages are advantageous
