Get to Know the Team

The GrabX team, a key component of Grab's Tech Infra, builds and maintains the high-scale, reliable experimentation platform used across all of Grab's marketplaces. We empower product and engineering teams to make data-driven decisions by providing world-class tools for A/B testing, statistical analysis, and measurement of business-critical metrics.

Our mission:

• Enable fast, reliable, and scientifically sound experimentation for all product teams.
• Develop robust causal inference and statistical methodologies to measure the impact.
• Ensure the integrity, scalability, and performance of the core experimentation platform.

Get to Know the Role

You'll help shape the future of experimentation at Grab. Your primary objective will be to optimize and develop novel A/B testing methodologies, ensure metric reliability, and advance the platform's capabilities for complex experimental designs. This includes developing solutions for issues like platform contamination, sample ratio mismatch, and network effects, all within a large-scale, distributed infrastructure environment.

You will work onsite from our Petaling Jaya office.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Contribute to active Apache Flink pipeline development for CDP attribute ingestion and Scribe event processing workstreams
• Improve pipeline observability tooling — dashboards, alerting, and data quality checks — that provide the team with real-time visibility into production health
• Maintain data processing services and pipelines using modern streaming frameworks and programming languages
• Write clean, well-documented code and participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality standards
• Troubleshoot and debug streaming systems, identifying performance bottlenecks and implementing optimisations
• Work with data storage systems to design efficient data models and optimise data flow
• Support the implementation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation for data systems
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and sprint ceremonies as a full team member
• Get exposure to on-call basics and incident response in a production data engineering environment
• Collaborate with teams to understand requirements and deliver data pipeline solutions

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• Only for candidates who are available to start in August 2026.
• Currently pursue a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field
• Foundation in at least one JVM language (Java or Scala preferred) or Python
• Familiarity with distributed systems concepts or stream processing (coursework or personal projects count)
• Comfortable working in a Linux/CLI environment
• Familiarity with version control systems, Git
• Exposure to Apache Flink, Spark, or Kafka (even from tutorials or side projects)
• Experience with SQL and working with large datasets
• Prior internship, project, or open-source contribution experience in data engineering or backend systems
• Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar)
