Get to Know the Team

Join the PayCore Integrations team at Grab – the group that builds and operates the critical payment rails connecting Grab to banks, wallets, and other financial partners across Southeast Asia. We are a cross-functional team of backend engineers and product managers who design reliable, high-throughput integrations for cash-in and cash-out at scale.

As part of Grab's leading super app, our mission is to make money movement simple, safe, and fast for our passengers, driver-partners, and merchant partners. We work on low-latency, highly available systems that sit at the heart of Grab's payments ecosystem.

Get to Know the Role

Your primary responsibility will be to design, build, and operate backend services and adapters that power our Payment Integrations with external financial institutions (banks, schemes, wallets, and aggregators). You'll work on systems that authorize payments, move funds, and keep our integrations resilient against partner issues.

You will be reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, Payments Integration. This is an onsite role in Bangalore.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable backend services and integrations with external financial partners.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code to solve challenging problems in the FinTech domain, especially around real-time payments and cash-out flows.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and partner teams to define API contracts and integration patterns that are robust, secure, and future-proof.
• Participate in code and design reviews to improve code quality and share best practices across the team.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex production issues across multiple systems and external partners, drive root cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes.
• Contribute to architecture and technical direction for new integrations, migrations from legacy systems, and platform hardening initiatives.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure the reliability and availability of our integration services and uphold high operational excellence standards.
• Partner with SRE / DevOps teams to improve observability, alerting, deployment pipelines, and failover strategies for integrations.
• Mentor and guide other engineers, helping to raise the technical bar on integration design, operational excellence, and coding practices.
• Stay up to date with industry trends in payments and integration technologies (e.g., Ireal-time payments, open banking) and bring relevant ideas into the team.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• Strong Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures, and capability to recognize when to use them
• Hands-on experience in the Fintech domain, especially Payments
• 8+ years of relevant experience in software development, with proficiency in one of the major programming languages, e.g., Golang (preferred)
• Experience with building web systems around DBMS, Caches, NoSQL and App servers
• Hands-on experience solving concurrency and consistency problems in large-scale systems
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
• Experience with clean architecture principles
• Capability to write extensible code for complex projects and pick the right abstractions that follow SOLID principles
• Experience with software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum)
• Commitment to maintaining a set of software engineering skills
• Proficiency in writing clean, efficient, maintainable code and documentations
• Hands-on experience processing huge volumes of financial data and ensuring consistency, accuracy and efficiency
