Get to Know the Team

The Grab Web team manages our public Grab.com website. We work collaboratively across different teams between Singapore and Malaysia to increase growth and awareness on the web domain across our Consumers, Drivers, Merchants, and Partners. You'll be part of a working group that values quality and strives for continuous improvement through collaboration and new ideas.

Get to Know the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work across the entire stack from databases to backend services to our front-end UI. You'll collaborate with engineering, product, design and business teams, to help achieve the team's goals.

You will report to an Engineering Manager and work onsite at our office in Petaling Jaya

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• You will lead end-to-end feature development and technical decisions
• You will build UIs with JavaScript/TypeScript and backend services in Golang
• You will write SQL queries and optimize performance
• You will design scalable, reliable infrastructure and service architecture
• You will improve and shape new technical architecture with a focus on scalability and performance of our services.
• When issues arise, you'll conduct root cause analysis investigations to identify and rectify them.
• You will debug and make necessary modifications to our production software to ensure that our software is always running smoothly providing a reliable service to our users.
• You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and team members to deliver features.
• You will mentor junior developers and conduct code reviews to foster growth.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• A degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or related fields.
• 4+ years of experience as a Fullstack Software Engineer.
• Development experience, including front-end work with React.js, Redux.js, and Webpack, as well as back-end development in Golang covering API design, databases, caching strategies, and queueing frameworks.
• Experience with CMS tooling such as Wordpress.
• Understand more complex data structures and algorithms, and recognize when to use them.
• Strong grasp of SOLID principles and ability to write scalable, maintainable code
• Experience designing services using clean architecture
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitLab
