Get to Know the Team

Managed EKS is building our next-gen compute platform for all engineers in Grab. You will be reporting to Software Engineering Manager II. The team has been hard at work and has driven successful migration of a significant portion of our legacy workloads onto our new platform. We aim to bring joy, delight and excellence into the daily work of Grab engineers.

Get to Know the Role

We are seeking a experienced and enthusiastic Lead Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will design, build, and maintain our service mesh infrastructure and k8s infrastructure that forms the backbone of our microservice architecture. You must have extensive experience in managing service-to-service communication, data plane, and control plane and have hands-on experience in managing k8s workloads

This role is onsite based in our Petaling Jaya, Malaysia office.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  • Architect, deploy, and manage istio mesh infrastructure and k8s infrastructure
  • You'll work closely with development teams to understand and cater to their needs in architecture.
  • You'll implement and manage service discovery, load-balancing, traffic management, and observability within the service mesh.
  • You'll implement and manage workload deployment, scheduling within AWS EKS.
  • You'll respond promptly to service interruptions and assist in capacity planning and performance tuning.
  • You'll monitor service operations to detect and troubleshoot potential issues.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our DevOps practices.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing microservices architecture.
  • Familiar with network protocols like HTTP, TCP/IP, and gRPC.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools, infrastructure as code etc.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Java, or Python.
  • Familiarity with service mesh technologies like istio, linkerd, consul etc
  • Familiarity with k8s management like AWS EKS, GKE
  • Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and orchestration tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native stack and cloud-based environments (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
