Job Description

Get to Know the Role

As Legal Counsel, Mobility, you will provide end-to-end legal support across transportation, logistics, and e‑commerce business lines, and any PEMEDES-related initiatives or public-sector engagements. You will manage and mitigate legal risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and support commercial growth through pragmatic, business-centric legal advice. You will lead or support disputes and litigation, and handle any other legal matters assigned by the manager.

You will report to the General Counsel - Philippines and work onsite in the Grab Pasig City office.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  1. Commercial & Product Advisory
    • Advise on product launches, operations, and market entries across transportation (rides, delivery, fleet), logistics, and e‑commerce (marketplace, on‑demand services, vendor programs).
    • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts: platform/vendor/merchant agreements, marketplace T&Cs, transportation and logistics MSAs, carrier/3PL agreements, service agreements, NDAs, procurement agreements, marketing/advertising agreements, distribution and supply agreements.
    • Support consumer and seller policies: return/refund, dispute resolution, seller onboarding, KYC/KYB, content moderation, ratings/reviews, pricing, promotions, vouchers, and loyalty programs.
  2. Regulatory & Compliance
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with transportation/TNC regulations, vehicle and driver standards, licensing/permits, safety, and public-interest rules.
    • E‑commerce and platform compliance: consumer protection, unfair trade practices, product liability, electronic transactions, online advertising, platform liability/intermediary safe harbors.
    • Support legal review for PEMEDES-related programs and any public-sector, municipal, or government‑funded initiatives
    • Competition/antitrust: pricing, exclusivity, MFN/MFN‑like clauses, market dominance risks, competitor interactions, JV/M&A filings (where applicable).
    • Employment/contractor classification issues linked to gig workforce, health & safety, and relevant labor standards affecting partners/drivers/riders.
    • Handle claims involving consumer protection, product liability, IP infringement, platform liability, employment/contractor matters, personal injury, and road incidents.
  3. Public‑Sector Work
    • Coordinate with Public Affairs on regulatory engagement, consultations, and advocacy.
  4. Disputes, Investigations & Litigation
    • Manage and coordinate pre‑litigation disputes, litigation, and regulatory investigations; oversee outside counsel and budgets.
  5. Governance, Risk & Operations Enablement
    • Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, SOPs, and policy frameworks.
    • Support corporate governance, entity management, secretarial filings, and board approvals as needed
  6. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
    • Partner closely with Operations, Product, Engineering, Safety, Compliance, Finance, Tax, Procurement, Public Relations, and Public Affairs
    • Manage external counsel and vendors efficiently, balancing risk, cost, and speed.
    • Perform any other related duties, projects, or responsibilities that may be reasonably assigned by the manager, including support for new products, features, geographies, business lines, and urgent matters outside the above scope.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • Law degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 5 years in PQE in top‑tier law firm and/or in‑house, with strong exposure to transportation/logistics, marketplace/e‑commerce, and commercial contracting.
  • Demonstrated experience in regulatory compliance and handling disputes/litigation
  • Familiarity with consumer protection, competition, advertising/marketing, and platform liability.
  • Experience with government/public‑sector contracting or programs
  • Strong business judgment, stakeholder management, and ability to deliver practical, timely advice in dynamic environments.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
