Job Description
Get to know the Role
As the Assistant Manager for Cities Strategy, you are the pioneer of growth for our expansion cities. Your playground is everywhere outside the main capital of Phnom Penh. This role requires a unique blend of strategic thinking, operational grit, and a deep sense of ownership. You will be responsible for crafting and executing hyper-local strategies to win in diverse cities, acting as the bridge between central strategy and on-the-ground execution team. This role may also require regular travel to these cities.
Day-to-Day Activities:
Develop and execute tailored growth playbooks for a portfolio of expansion cities, adapting central strategies to fit different city dynamics, user behaviour, and competitive landscapes.
Take full ownership of the city-level performance metrics. You will constantly monitor city health, diagnose issues, and drive rapid, effective corrective actions in collaboration with different functions and teams.
Travel to your designated cities to meet with local teams, merchants, and partners. Gather firsthand insights that quantitative data alone cannot provide and become the true voice of the market.
Channel on-the-ground learnings and competitive intelligence back to the central team to inform broader business strategy and product development priorities.
Lead and project manage city-specific growth initiatives, securing buy-in and coordinating efforts across Marketing, Operations, and Merchant Acquisition teams to ensure your strategies are brought to life effectively.
Qualifications
The Must Haves
A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
3-5 years of relevant experience in strategy, operations management, business development, or a similar role requiring a mix of analytical and execution skills. Experience in market expansion is highly advantageous.
You must be willing and able to travel frequently to various cities within the country.
You are not afraid to get your hands dirty. You are adaptable, thrive in dynamic environments, and can switch between high-level strategy and detailed execution seamlessly.
Strong proficiency in SQL and Excel/Google Sheets is a must. You can connect data points to business levers and make sound business judgments.
Proven ability to operate independently with a high degree of ownership and drive projects forward in a complex environment.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with an ability to build relationships and influence teams both remotely and in person.
