The Malaysia Country Legal Team is an important part of Grab Malaysia's business, dedicated to ensuring that our business practices align with legal standards and regulatory requirements. We provide comprehensive legal support across different sectors, offering legal advice on contracts, compliance, and governance. Get to Know the Role
Reporting to the General Counsel - Indonesia & Regional Head of Countries, you are a an important member of the Grab Legal Leadership Team.
Managing a team of 4 legal counsels, you will lead the Malaysia Legal Team to provide legal, regulatory, compliance, governance and contractual advice to Grab Malaysia's business. You will have a close working relationship with Grab Malaysia's leadership team.
This role is based on-site in our Petaling Jaya office.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
- Advise on and draft applicable provisions of agreements with vendors, customers, partners, and consultants of the Grab Malaysia mobility, deliveries, supermarket and financial services businesses, and assume regional coordination activities for some regional business verticals.
- Collaborate with external advisors and counsel on applicable litigation and claims involving the Grab Malaysia business.
- Interface and support, other business support teams within Grab Malaysia and regionally, such as Marketing, Communications, Finance, Treasury, Corporate Finance, Tax, Human Resources and Data Privacy.
- Collaborate with business teams to identify and analyze issues related to the introduction of new services and products in the Grab Malaysia business.
- Oversee and provide business-focused legal advice for partnerships with Grab's business in Malaysia.
- Represent Grab's interests and interface directly with regulatory agencies, and in particular, with transport, gig-economy, financial services and competition regulatory authorities;
- Participate in the Regional Legal Management Team and collectively managing the Legal team throughout the Grab business.
Qualifications
What Essential Skills You Will Need
- You have been called to the Malaysian Bar.
- You have at least 12 years of post-qualification experience, with experience in both private practice and as an in-house counsel.
- Demonstrated people management and mentorship experience.
- Expertise in corporate and commercial law, with experience handling complex legal matters and transactions.
- You can understand the business, commercial requirements, our strategies and directions, its people, and its organizational structures.

- Familiarity with the development of AML/CFT related compliance requirements.
