Get to Know the Team

The DBOps team in Grab is responsible for all online production databases. They identify database problems, provide solutions, and build automation platforms to automate repeatable operation work in the most efficient and optimised way. The team is passionate about the details and works with multiple partners. Their passion is anchored in the work that they do, and this is reflected in the impact they make in SEA daily.

Get to Know the Role

We are looking for passionate Database Engineers to join our team. You will have opportunities to work on different database technologies at a large-scale. It's very important that our team members to identify problems and have the right mindset. You will work onsite at Grab office in District 7 and report to the Engineering Manager, who is based in Singapore.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• You will manage NoSQL database clusters, ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• You will troubleshoot database-related issues to relevant parties, both independently and collaboratively, while implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
• You will advise on and implement best practices for each phase of the database lifecycle, including planning, provisioning, tuning, upgrading, and decommissioning.
• You will work with engineering and operations teams to automate processes and develop approaches to lead scalability, reliability, and performance.
• You will conduct research and development on new features and solutions, applying your domain expertise to push boundaries and deliver modern innovations.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• Final year students or recent graduates (max 1 year after graduation) in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, IT/Science, Maths, or similar.
• Vietnamese citizenship and be present in HCMC for 6 month Internship
• Good English in both written and verbal, with strong team collaboration skills.
• Fundamental knowledge of Computer Science.
• Can commit 40 hours weekly internship at our Grab office in Ho Chi Minh City, District 7
