Job Description

Get to know the team

The Business Development Team contributes to the achievement of cross-vertical country objectives and rolls out regional initiatives through key partnerships in identified industries. Team members are expected to embody 2 particular traits under Grab’s 4Hs - Hunger (drive to look for new and more interesting opportunities) and Honor (making sure that we never deliberately over promise and underdeliver to our partners). They are the front liners for our strategic partners offering business solutions and brokering win-win deals.

Get to know the role:

The Business Development Intern is expected to help the Business Development managers to build, maintain and grow Grab’s relationship with key partners in a diversified portfolio - particularly launching Food Lockers within the different real estate properties.

Food lockers, similar to existing parcel delivery lockers, provide a safe and convenient way for DAX/PAX to drop off and collect GrabFood orders in a contactless manner. This initiative aims to improve our delivery efficiencies thru reduced DAT, increase our GMV or potential revenue stream, and enhance the DAX, PAX, and property management food delivery experience.

The Day-to-Day Activities

  • Support Business Development team in developing new businesses and negotiating deals
  • Provide inputs while executing deals by closely working with cross-functional and on-ground teams
  • Solidify and maintain productive relationships with key partners
  • Proactively create new leads to support overall objective of BD priorities
  • Craft and share best practices efficiently using common resources
  • Conduct research on key industries and help identify new business opportunities with Grab

Internship Learnings

  • Communication & Negotiation Skills: Pitching and presenting the concept to partners will help them improve their verbal and written communication skills, as well as convey ideas clearly and persuasively. Engaging in negotiations for commercial terms will enhance their ability to negotiate effectively
  • Project Management: Monitoring the deployment timeline and coordinating with cross-functional teams will give them hands-on experience in project management, including planning, execution, and monitoring
  • Problem-Solving: Addressing concerns or issues that arise will develop their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, as they’ll need to come up with solutions on the fly
  • Data Analysis & Marketing: Watching performance metrics and suggesting improvements will help them learn how to analyze data and make data-driven decisions. Suggesting ways to increase usage of the food locker will provide insights into sales strategies and marketing techniques
  • Adaptability: The dynamic nature of the project will require them to adapt to changing circumstances and feedback, fostering flexibility and resilience.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role should possess below skills

  • Organizational Skills & Time Management: The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively is crucial in project management.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for collaborating with team members and reaching out to potential leads.
  • Attention to Detail: Being detail-oriented helps in ensuring that projects are executed accurately and that leads are properly followed up.
  • Proactive Attitude: A candidate who takes initiative and is eager to learn will be more effective in both project management and lead generation
  • Team Player: Collaboration is key in project management, so being able to work well with others is important.

The Must-Haves

  • Interest in Sales, Marketing, Business Development and Management consulting roles
  • Strong creativity, problem-solving skills and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and deal effectively with complex, changing, and ambiguous environments
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point

Nice to Haves

  • Relationships and network of contacts in key companies within the PH Business landscape
  • Excellent cross functional project management, negotiation and interpersonal skills
