Job Description
We are seeking a mature and experienced Backend Software Engineering Manager to lead our team of engineers. This role requires a dynamic and collaborative individual who can oversee the design, development, and maintenance of our software systems while ensuring alignment with our business objectives.
The goal of this team is to build the next generation of group order product to offer consumer affordable meal with better choice while also driving demand to merchants.
Core Responsibilities:
Complexity & Independence: Architect, design, and build systems that solve complex problems. Scope new project’s technical requirements, and identify appropriate technology solutions for each project. Work closely with other technical leads to ensure that the pieces of a complex system work well with other dependent systems.
Knowledge & Skills: Have advanced knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, operations, and engineering best practices. Capable of independent full systems design, including requirements gathering, specifications, and coding. Play a technical leadership role for complete product cycles. Build and deliver complex systems that leverage our technology platform and work well with other company systems.
Leadership & People Management: Serve as a team leader with direct people management responsibilities. Serve as an authority on technical issues to less senior engineers. Drive accountability for results, while admitting and taking ownership for mistakes. Play a consulting role with other senior engineers/engineering managers on broad technology decisions and implementations. Collaborate across Tech Families to unblock issues.
Hiring Guidelines: Heavily involved and drive the hiring process for your team. Skilled at evaluating technical and soft skills. Keep the bar very high; making the right long term hiring and retention decisions.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Proven experience in a managerial role within an internet/international company.
Strong capability in backend software architecture, with a track record of designing and implementing complex software solutions; preferable micro service oriented experience. Additional mobile development experience is a plus.
Expert knowledge of at least one programming language; fluent with Golang is a plus.
Good sense of product, with the ability to understand user needs and translate them into effective software solutions; experience of building product from 0 to 1 is a plus.
Proven experience in collaborating with international teams.
Excellent oral English communication skills is a must.
Strong problem-solving skills, with a creative and analytical mindset.
Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
5+ years of relevant, broad engineering experience, including 3+ years of people management experience with a B.S. degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics.
