Get to know the team

Scribe is a telemetry platform used by Grab Superapp today to collect ClickStream events as well as application logs across all SEA. We collect data from Passengers, Drivers & Merchants. Scribe Platform components involve SDK, Collector, Data Processing Pipelines as well as a Portal to discover & control this data to enable user insights like funnels, pageviews etc.

Get to know the role

We are seeking passionate engineers who have experience with fullstack engineering. You will have the opportunity to work on either core backend service engineering or full stack development. It is very important that our team members take initiatives to identify problems, and have the right mindset and skill sets to solve them.

The Day-to-Day Activities

• Improve data processing logic to process all the data from single user session, asap user closes the app
• Drive insights from this data about funnels, crashes, bookings etc
• Work with realtime frameworks like Flink & Kafka
• Model this data processing instead of time based (hourly) to trigger based logic (session closed)
• Enable new use cases on our portal
• Work with databases like Apache Pinot (OLAP) & PostGres (OLTP)
• Expose REST APIs for this control plane to build further complex use cases, like A/B Testing & Segmentation platforms
• Design data models for our events, to bring more value out of existing data

Qualifications

The Must-Haves

• Strong Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
• Proficiency in Python, Golang or React.
• Familiarity working with VCS such as git, git-flow, understanding of full software development life-cycle.
• Experience with any big data framework, such as Spark, Ray, familiar with the concept of processing events in real-time.

The Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with event data
• Experience with product analytics or behavioral insights use cases
