Get To Know The Role

As the Head of Engineering in our Business Platform Tech Family, you will strategically propel our mobile engineering initiatives, particularly focusing on the Merchant App Platform. Your responsibilities will involve delivering large-scale, cross-departmental systems, driving the vision and goals for the engineering teams, and managing extensive and detailed projects with a significant impact on the bottom line, all while enhancing the stability and quality of Grab Merchant App. This role is based in Indonesia and a profound understanding of Mobile Flutter is highly desired

Get To Know Our Team

The Business Platform Tech Family is at the forefront of enabling Grab merchant partners with innovative technology that catalyzes their business growth on the Grab Platform. Our team pioneers multiple key products, including the GrabMerchant App and GrabMerchant Portal. By running microservice architecture in the backend and employing a plethora of frontend techniques (e.g., iOS, ADR, Flutter, Web), we cater to our broad range of end users (e.g., Merchants, to-B partners) spanning across seven countries. Our ambition is to offer a high-quality, stable, and efficient platform for merchants, and to extend our platform to facilitate offline transactions for merchants

The Day-To-Day Activities

  • Oversee the development and quality of the Merchant App Platform while managing and supporting a vibrant team of engineering talent.
  • Be responsible for improvements in app stability and quality.
  • Drive and deliver the company's most strategic technical projects, immersing in the scoping, managing and overall execution processes.
  • Develop performance metrics for the teams and department, reporting them to peers and executives.
  • Work closely with other function leaders to ensure smooth alignment of technology with internal and external customer needs.
  • Implement recruiting strategies to attract and retain top mobile engineering talent. Keep raising the bar for engineering talent at Grab.
  • Play a critical role in broad business planning, and work closely with peers and executives to develop business targets and resource requirements.

Qualifications

The Must-Haves:

  • You have Heart, Hunger, Honour, and Humility.
  • You have the continuous desire to learn new things and embrace the latest technologies
  • Broad engineering experience, preferably 15+ years, including at least 8 years in an engineering management role.
  • A B.S. degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • Deep understanding and proven experience in mobile applications development, preferably with hands-on experience in Flutter.
  • Proficiency in assessing the financial implications of technology decisions.
  • Exceptional skills in communicating both within the organization and externally, adept at representing the company at industry events.

Leadership Skills

  • Outstanding leadership skills, with the ability to manage an entire department with multiple teams.
  • Ability to make critical decisions and defend them to budget owners and stakeholders.
  • Capability to develop cohesive, focused teams of managers.
  • Ability to have influence and impact across the organization.
  • Expertly skilled at evaluating candidates for technical skills and long-term fit.
