The SOX team is responsible for:

  • Ensuring the Group’s compliance with SOX regulations, and good internal control practices
  • Ensure financial policies, processes and controls in place, and operating effectively
  • Safeguarding of company assets through mitigating financial risks & exposures
  • Continuous improvements on financial operation through implementing innovative solutions

Get to know the Role:

We are looking for a SOX Manager to lead the Internal control and SOX efforts in Malaysia. We believe a successful candidate has Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), audit and risk advisory experience in the FMCG, Technology/FinTech, and/or Retail industries, but if you believe you have what it takes then we’d love to hear from you either way. In return, you will get an opportunity to apply your expertise and shape the control environment in our diverse Malaysia businesses.

The day-to-day activities:

  • Directly report to the Senior Manager, SOX.
  • Maintain the internal SOX controls framework to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX). This encompasses overseeing all internal controls over financial reporting (ICFRs) as well as IT Application Controls (ITACs).
  • Plan and lead the execution of the SOX Program for the designated scope, which involves conducting walkthroughs to gain process comprehension, assessing Financial Reporting risks, and evaluating control design and operational effectiveness to ensure compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Collaboration with the SOX team, Process Owners, and Control Owners across departments such as Finance, Operations, Group Technology Services, Products, and Engineering to ensure the ongoing updating and maintenance of SOX documentation.
  • Evaluate deficiencies that have been identified, engage with stakeholders to propose remediation plans/strategies, and conduct validation on remediation actions.
  • Additionally, review broader internal controls within various business/operations groups.
  • Conduct training sessions to educate employees on internal controls and proper process execution.
  • Anticipate approximately 10% travel requirements.

Qualifications

The must haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in accountancy, finance or equivalent
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIA)
  • 8-10 years of audit and risk advisory (including SOX) experience, in the FMCG, Technology/FinTech, and Retail industries
  • Excellent command of English
  • Proficiency in productivity tools (Google suite, AuditBoard [a plus]).
  • Experience with analyzing and identifying the strengths and weaknesses of options and exercise critical thinking, problem solving, and judgment skills
  • Detail oriented
