Job Description

Get to know the role

We are looking for a Senior Technical Content Developer that loves to learn and communicate information clearly, concisely, and accurately. As a content developer, you play a crucial hands-on role in building a knowledge management culture across the technical families at Grab. In this role, you will plan, develop, and drive execution of engineering onboarding and excellence, as well as documentation and training initiatives that have a tremendous impact on the hundreds of engineers in the organization.

The day-to-day activities:

  • Manage technical documentation across multiple teams and lead all aspects of assigned Documentation as Code delivery.
  • Drive and manage program strategy for technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and on-demand learning initiatives, and constantly find ways of improving processes in a data-driven manner.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to create clear-and-concise technical documentation for internal engineering platforms and engineering and operational tenets such as stability, scalability, resiliency, on-call, incidents, and so on.
  • Lead and actively participate in documentation planning with engineering teams and product management.
  • Help drive and review the overall team strategy and tactics, helping improve Grab’s documentation culture.
  • Identify user pain points and business needs to assess documentation requirements.
  • Define standards and style guidelines that help engineers become better communicators.
  • Create sample code and training resources that will help onboard other teams.
  • Copyedit, proofread, and validate documentation written by others with diligent testing.
  • Evangelize Grab’s technical brand by driving blog creation (and publishing) both internally and externally.
  • Mentor and coach fellow technical content developers.

Qualifications

The Must-Haves

  • You have 6+ years of experience in technical writing, product documentation, or other related fields.
  • You have a solid understanding of information hierarchies and content strategy.
  • You have experience working directly with development teams, obtaining information through research and interviews, and testing and validating documentable features and concepts.
  • You are knowledgeable of SDLC, software technologies, infrastructure, microservices, or Git.
  • You showcase a passion for continuous learning and customer engagement/enablement initiatives.
  • You are experienced in working with multiple stakeholders across various functional teams.
  • You showcase a self-starter attitude – willing to work hard and take initiative to learn and get things done in a highly-ambiguous and a fast paced environment.
  • You are collaborative, empathetic, and curious, with a proactive and open-minded attitude to resolving problems and delivering results.

The Nice-to-Haves

  • You have some working knowledge of documentation-as-code.
  • You have expertise with development tools and developer documentation.
  • You have experience with employee onboarding or enablement programs.
  • You have some knowledge on cloud computing or microservices
  • You are an experienced marketer, graphic designer, and video editor would be an advantage.
