Come join the Consumer Experience (CX) Growth Engineering team - we work on a diverse set of consumer problems spanning across core experiences that power the UX navigation and transaction funnels, search and discovery of content and services, User lifecycle covering user growth, engagement and loyalty and the critical platform mission of mobile application developer experience. Get to know the Role
As a leader in an exciting and dynamic industry that is evolving daily, we are seeking talented Lead Android Engineers to join our team! As part of this role, you will be responsible for designing and building app authentication experiences that are secure and as frictionless as possible for our users. You will be working on world class authentication and authorization systems that are regionally compliant, and adhere to stringent security, fintech and other regulatory standards
As a Lead Mobile Engineer you will play a significant role in deciding the components of the SDK to be built for a specific problem space and how these components will interact with the underlying platforms. Also, you will be leading and guiding the team to design the platform level solution with others teams at Grab while championing the best practices for mobile engineering. You will be driving the SDK design for the problem space, as well as guiding other engineers on best practices for mobile engineering.
The Day-to-Day Activities
Translate high-level business requirements into detailed technical specifications and implementation plans.
Collaborate with the product, business, and program management team to be on top of your deliverable.
Participate in technical and product review meetings.
Create well defined and clear technical specifications and RFCs.
Focus on timely delivery of high-quality, maintainable, and operationally excellent code and test code using Java/Kotlin for Android.
Participate in code review and design reviews, be the subject matter expert and bar raiser in the discussions.
Be part of on-call rotation and support the application in production, lead by hands on contribution and advising other engineers if an outage or app crash occurs. - You make an impact by delivering a fault free and secure experience to millions of daily users of the platform, also enabling our partners to earn their business income through the app.
The Must-Haves
6+ years of experience in building large-scale, highly available mobile applications
Strong Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms, data structures and generic programming/system design.
Familiarity with architecting significant parts of a large scale Android mobile app with API based backends. (Millions of daily active users)
Expert level understanding of the Android OS fundamentals and the security architecture of the OS.
Excellent knowledge of performance tuning of apps.
Experience with one of the following design patterns: MVVM, MVC, RxJava, Retrofit, OkHttp, Gson, etc
Experience in working with Mobile SDK development and NDKs
Possess excellent communication, sharp analytical abilities with proven design skills, able to think critically of the current system in terms of growth and stability
History of effectively working with and growing geo-distributed partner teams. - BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
The Nice-to-Haves
Experience with TEE, TPM would be a plus.
Prior knowledge and exposure to application security, encryption algorithms, hashing schemes, experience building security products would be a plus
Knowledge of authentication and authorization standards and protocols like SAML, OAuth2, OIDC, FIDO, etc., would be a plus.
