The Day-to-Day Activities
We build foundational tools so that Grab engineers don’t have to reinvent the wheel
Work with Grab engineers to solve their custom problems, and make them more productive
Work with your team on the following:
Work on future roadmaps for the team
Run sprints and plan out the work for the sprint
Architect efficient and scalable backend systems
Write unit, functional and end-to-end tests
Safely roll-out large changes and updates that impact hundreds of engineers
Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues
Participate in design discussions and code reviews
Be part of on-call for the services we own, and participate in post-mortems for any incidents
7+ years of software development experience, preferably in delivering large scale engineering products & services
3+ years of engineering management experience (preferably supporting teams of 5 or more software engineers)
Proven team manager, interpersonal skills, and ability to get things done
Ability to clearly communicate high level strategy and technical details effectively across disciplines, locations, and organizations, including to senior managers.
Strong bias for action; ability to juggle multiple priorities and build a sense of urgency in a dynamic environment
Ability to manage, support and grow a team of talented software engineers.
From technical software development aspects:
Familiarity with the entire web application stack (specifically backend and database, frontend experience would be a bonus)
Strong experience with developing infrastructure on the Cloud
Familiarity with K8s or other similar orchestration technologies is a plus.
Sound in computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms and multithreading
Knowledge of web application frameworks, relational and NoSQL data stores
Knowledge of microservices, build and deployment concepts
Good understanding of the HTTP protocol and networking
Experience working in a fast paced, startup environment
