This team provides routing/navigation capabilities for different business verticals (transport, food delivery, express delivery, etc.). The goal is to provide the most effective and reliable routing/navigation to achieve higher platform efficiency

Get to Know the Role

Here you will be deeply involved in the development of cutting-edge routings/navigation algorithms and research in the geography industry, get closer to the core indicators of the business, and use massive amounts of accurate data to explore their relevance to reality. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to drive Grab's business growth through bit-by-bit insight and finally see the improvement of business indicators.

We are looking for a backend engineer to build our navigation product to help our driver partners to finish their jobs most effectively. We will need your excellent engineering skills to improve our navigation experience (efficient and devise routing, accurate arrival time estimation, accurate traffic prediction, drivers interaction with real-time singles, instrumentation & analytics, etc.). And also we would like you to give full play to your talents, boldly propose creative ideas, and practice them with team members.

The Day-to-Day Activities:

• As the pioneer of the team, obtaining the latest industry trends and gaining insight through data, drive the team in the right direction.

• Research into cutting-edge routing/navigation technologies and evolve our system.

• Design and implement highly reliable and scalable services for routing/navigation systems.

• Collaborate with cross-team stakeholders such as product managers, UI designers, and data analysts to ship world-class products to customers’ hands.

• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain our high development standards.

The Must-Haves:

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering in a distributed systems environment.

• Strong Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.

• Experience in developing and maintaining large-scale micro-services.

• Passionate about building products and features to accelerate business growth

• You can be a good coder in any programming language, but you are willing to work on Golang/Python/Scala. Proficiency in Golang will be a strong advantage

• Good English Communication

The Nice-to-Haves:

• Background/experience in GEO, e.g. traffic, routing, and ETA

• Good data analytical skills e.g. SQL, python, and spark

• Familiarity with machine learning methods and techniques

• Familiarity with cloud systems such as AWS or Azure.
