We are a forward-looking compliance team that prevents, detects and mitigates regulatory risks across Grab’s businesses while helping to strengthen the culture of compliance.

The team assesses key compliance risks for all regulated Grab entities; monitors new or amended regulations; develops and implements controls, policies, procedures and training; conducts testing; investigates, surveils and monitors for compliance risks and breaches; and leads responses to regulatory examinations, audits and inquiries. This team has strong capabilities in both compliance and relationship management skills, and employs cutting edge digital technology to protect the business and to meet compliance objectives.

Get to know the Role:

This role will lead and drive the regulatory compliance function for the financial businesses in Thailand, particularly digital payments, digital lending, insurance and investments. This role will also be assisting in building up the compliance function for non-financial businesses in Thailand, which includes the mobility and deliveries businesses.

Regulatory Compliance Advisory:

  • Assess and interpret the potential impact of applicable financial regulations and rules on business and product development and ensuring compliance with the applicable local laws, rules, regulations and standards;

  • Provide comprehensive regulatory compliance advice to the business on all compliance matters relevant to the licensed entity;

  • Develop, maintain and implement the country compliance program, including the Compliance policies and guidelines, regulatory documentation, training logs and related policies/procedures;

  • Partner with business, operations and product/engineering teams to implement the regulatory compliance program and lead the coordination of internal changes when required;

  • Perform the role of Money Laundering Reporting Officer for the business, which will entail overseeing the Customer onboarding process and AML transaction monitoring process, filing of suspicious transaction reports and conducting regular AML training;

  • Support regulatory licensing application process

Monitoring, Controls and Governance:

  • Conduct compliance risk assessments, tests and audits, including developing plans and reports on findings to address gaps and drive remediation efforts; develop and track key compliance risk monitoring indicators;

  • Support all external and internal audits as required;

  • Prepare and submit periodic reports/presentations to regulatory bodies and senior management forums;

  • Support other subject matter leads to implement controls and enhancements for areas such as technology risk management, personal data protection and data governance, transaction monitoring and quality assurance; Prep

  • Develop training materials and regularly sensitize senior management, relevant employees and business partners regarding key compliance risks;

  • Support and where necessary drive government relations activities in regional markets to deepen ties with financial regulators and central banks;

  • Travel frequently within South-east Asia where Grab has a presence to build similar compliance frameworks in these countries, as well as support country compliance teams when required.

The must-haves

  • Constructive attitude and a demonstrated willingness to “get hands dirty” to effectively solve problems.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; Proficient in English and Thai language;

  • Self-starter, highly motivated, goal focused, detail oriented and well-organized

  • Demonstrated hunger to grow and flexibility to adapt to a dynamic and fast-moving business environment

  • Ability to work independently while always being committed to team objectives;

  • Minimum 8 years relevant experience in regulatory compliance/internal audit in a financial institution, preferably with payments or lending exposure. Highly qualified candidates with experience working for a financial regulator will be prioritized for assessment.

  • Experience in drafting policy recommendation papers; or policies, procedures, and manuals.

  • Experience in liaising with financial regulators, responding to regulatory inquiries and surveys and managing inspections.

  • Experience in stakeholder management at all levels, particularly senior stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of Thailand’s and ideally one other South-East Asian country’s financial regulatory framework

  • Comfort in managing ambiguity and operating in a hyper-growth company

We will love:

  • Hands-on experience designing operational flows to manage customer due diligence /know-your-customer/ know-your-business/ suspicious transaction monitoring processes

  • ACAMS or related certification

  • Expertise in the digital financial industry, particularly digital lending, insurance and investments, and regional personal data protection laws

  • Expertise in government relations and handling key stakeholder cultivation

  • Awareness of recent developments in digital financial services

  • Experiences in Governance and Risk Management
