The day-to-day activities:
To carry out compliance related activities and ensure compliance with the applicable local laws, rules, regulations and standards.
Be able to assess and interpret the potential impact of applicable financial regulations and rules on business and product development.
Develop, maintain and implement the country compliance program, including the Compliance policies and guidelines, regulatory documentation, training logs and related policies/procedures.
Conduct periodic compliance risk assessments, tests, and audits including preparing preliminary reports on findings and ensure proper implementation of recommendation.
Work closely with operations and product teams to identify enhancements in compliance processes and play a driving role to implement system changes.
Prepare and submit periodic reports/presentations to regulatory bodies and senior management forums.
Coordinate closely with subject matter experts to implement risk mitigation strategies in key areas such as personal data protection, transaction monitoring, business continuity and information security.
Develop training materials and regularly sensitise senior management, relevant employees and business partners regarding key compliance risks.
To record, update and disseminate regulatory watch for consultation, notification and disseminate to relevant parties on regulatory updates and advise on changes and implications, if any.
Assist to investigate and report any breach of law or regulations where appropriate and follow up on resolutions.
Review and prepare Regulation Risk Assessments, Annual Compliance Plan and Manual.
Review all product-related materials, advertising, marketing and sales promotion materials to ensure the business complies with regulatory requirements
Ensure compliance with all relevant Anti-Bribery & Corruption regulations and laws and group policies;
Provide adequate oversight to ensure the Company has effective control environment to minimize compliance risk;
Provide advice, guidance and on-going training to staff on the appropriate implementation of compliance framework which include policies and procedures such as those contained in the Compliance Manual, internal codes of conduct and practice guidelines.
Advise the various units/ departments of any implications of new regulations/ regulatory changes and provide guidance on the proper and prompt implementation of procedures to comply with the requirement.
The must haves:
A University Degree or a Master’s Degree with a focus in Compliance/Risk Management.
At least 8 years of relevant experience in compliance management in a highly complex environment, with a Malaysia focus in Banking, financial services and insurance.
Must have relevant local consumer banking and / or fintech experience with a deep understanding of Banking Regulatory Compliance and industry compliance practices.
Must have a deep understanding of risk control governance and framework, and must possess relevant knowledge in establishing and implementing policies and procedures.
Proven experience in engaging and maintaining good relationships with regulators.
Ability to deliver clear presentations to senior management. He or she must be able to explain clearly and if needed, defend the decision.
Excellent communication skills to interact with broad ranges of audiences or stakeholders with different background
Must be able to empathise and collaborate with various senior stakeholders from other functional teams.
He or she must have a structured thought process and a strong analytical ability.
Preferably to have knowledge or skills in using technology like data analytic tools to analyse or monitor potential risks.
Good interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively network within the industry and the businesses.
