Role Summary
As a Safety and Security Manager, you will serve as the primary gatekeeper for office entrance security, managing access control, monitoring security systems, and responding to incidents to keep our people and premises safe. You will maintain accurate security records, guide staff on security procedures, and support the wider Facilities team on health and safety compliance and emergency preparedness.
Please note: This is a full-time, fixed-term employee position with an expected duration of 6 months.
Responsibilities:
Office entrance security and access control
- Act as the primary gatekeeper for office entrance security, monitoring and controlling access for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Monitor security systems, such as CCTV cameras and access control systems, to detect and respond to unauthorized activity.
- Manage access control systems and databases to ensure accurate and up-to-date access permissions for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Issue and manage keycards or access codes, and oversee visitor sign-in and access procedures.
- Conduct routine patrols of facility premises to deter unauthorized access and ensure the safety and security of occupants.
Security incident response
- Respond to security incidents and alarms promptly, investigate root causes, and take appropriate action to address security breaches or threats.
- Provide assistance during emergency situations, such as evacuations or security incidents, by following established protocols and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of security incidents and access control activities.
Security guidance and compliance
- Provide guidance to staff on security procedures, access control protocols, and emergency response techniques.
- Support the development of security policies, procedures, and standards, helping ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Conduct regular security audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of security measures and identify areas for improvement.
Health and safety support
- Assist in formulating and updating safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to reflect current regulatory requirements and organizational priorities.
- Promote a culture of safety throughout the office by fostering awareness, accountability, and engagement among employees.
Emergency preparedness
- Support risk assessments and vulnerability analysis to identify potential emergencies and help develop mitigation strategies.
Must-have skills (required)
- Experience monitoring and managing office or facility entrance security, including access control systems and visitor management.
- Familiarity with CCTV and other security monitoring systems.
- Able to respond calmly and effectively to security incidents, alarms, and emergency situations.
- Good understanding of access control protocols and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in maintaining accurate security and access records.
- Good communication skills, able to provide clear guidance to staff and visitors on security procedures.
- Basic understanding of health and safety compliance requirements relevant to office environments.
Academic and professional requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in security, facilities, or access control operations.
Nice-to-have skills (preferred)
- Certification in security management or a related field.
- Experience conducting security audits or risk assessments.
- Experience liaising with law enforcement or emergency response agencies.
